chatheater AMS/BSAS
What is a scenario for the Chatheater?
Chatheater tries to mix terms usually related to theater with others related to city, internet and politics. In one side there are stage, actor, character and theater… The metaphorical use of these terms is intended to provoke a process of conversation where the realist and the fictional field could be mixed… What we are trying to achieve is one type of conversation where two approaches are possible. What is considered “real” can be lighten up of its load and what is consider fictional as a concrete possibility of “reality”. So “scenario” it’s a particular situation for a discussion, not only an “urban issue”, it’s a mise–en-scene of the same discussion. Scenario it’s too the building up of an urban image, a hypothesis of a relation between urban agents, those of conflict, of negotiation, of exchange, etc. Chatheater is a collective building up, negotiated, assembled, and composed. It’s not a synthetic image; it’s rather a hypothesis for a simulation.
Political temporality of scenarios
Alternative futures.
An alternative future it’s a description or the simulation of a further possible state of things. It’s a tool to think present possibilities and its possible developings. Not in order to predict but to analyze them and to have a conversation on them right now. A scenario let us to simulate future situations of the city, interactions between its actors and characters and to explore its exchanges and struggles to discuss and to imagine them.
Playability
This term is widely known in the videogamer’s field. It refers to the capacity of the plays to be played, (high and low playability). In the case of the chatheater this term could indicate just if a conflictive urban issue could be “played”. Played means here a combination of “simulated-acted-conversed”. So, playability is the characteristic of a situation, of a hypothesis, of a urban conflict to be operated, thought or discussed trough ludic procedures.
